Statement
Durch meine künstlerische Praxis betrachte ich die Leinwand als einen idealen Raum, dem ich mich bei jeder Arbeit wie zum ersten Mal nähere.
Ich mische klassische Formen, abstrakte Elemente, Fotorealismus, Pop-Art und traumhaften Surrealismus. So entsteht eine Mehrdeutigkeit, die in jedem Motiv und in den Räumen, die jeden Charakter umfassen, verkörpert ist.
Meine Bilder sind indirekte Selbstporträts, sie sind Auszüge meiner Identität. Die Malerei ermöglicht es mir, durch die Darstellungen zu reflektieren. Persönliche Erfahrungen fließen in meine künstlerische Praxis ein. Das Aufwachsen in Kasachstan, was an sich ein kultureller Schmelztiegel ist, hat mich durch den Einfluss verschiedener Kulturen sehr geprägt. Die Einwanderung nach Deutschland hat die Idee, verschiedene ästhetischen Modi zu kombinieren, weiter verstärkt. Diese Ästhetik manifestiert sich in meiner Arbeit, die in Serien wie: „My therapist says“, „Die Stimme des Raums“, „ Between the media“, etc , organisiert ist. Jede Serie ist ein Versuch eine visuelle und emotionale Sprache zu entwickeln, die eine Brücke zum Betrachter herstellt. Ich arbeite oft intuitiv und nehme mir Freiheiten bei der Abstraktion der Form bis neue Identitäten auftauchen. Meine Charaktere basieren auf realen Menschen, aber auch auf Referenzen, die aus der Kunstgeschichte, Mythen, Magazinen und Filmen stammen. Meine größte Inspiration ist die menschliche Form.
Meine Menschen oder genauer „Menschwesen“ sind oft Transitwesen. Ich lasse sie auf unsichtbaren Grenzen balancieren. Diese Balanceakte sind manchmal ein mythisches Sein zwischen zwei Wesen (Tier und Mensch), ein Exhibitionieren und ein Verhüllen, perfekter äußerer Schein und dahinter abgrundtiefes Leersein. Die Mehrschichtigkeit vieler meiner Arbeiten impliziert den Aspekt der Reproduzierbarkeit, dabei ist es mir wichtig zu zeigen, dass das Medium der Malerei durch neue Medien seinen Status verändert. Meinen Arbeiten ist eine paradoxe Existenz von Bewegung und Stille eigen, sie bildet einen beunruhigenden Effekt, der eine surreale und traumhafte Qualität hervorruft. Ich erreiche diese Wirkung oft durch den gezielten Einsatz von transparenten Stoffen, die mit Acryl bemalt und anschließend auf die Leinwand kaschiert werden. Diese Arbeitsweise lässt das Gewebe der Stoffe erkennen, die Oberfläche wirkt verpixelt. Zudem wird die Leinwand mit einer zweiten Haut belegt, durch die die malerischen unteren Schichten hindurchscheinen. Subtile Räumlichkeiten entstehen, die an meine früheren plastischen Arbeiten erinnern, ich begann meine künstlerische Praxis zunächst als Bildhauer und bog Figuren aus Draht, die einer Zeichnung gleich in den Raum drangen. Nach meinem Studium der Bildhauerei an der HFK in Bremen arbeitete ich in der Werkstatt der Hamburgischen Staatsoper. Bei der Gestaltung eines Bühnenbildes mit transparenten Stoffen entdeckte ich die Möglichkeit mehrere Ebenen in einem Bild zu verschmelzen und somit deren rein physische Präsenz zu durchbrechen. Dies war die Geburtsstunde meiner Technik, die mit ihrer digital wirkenden Bildstörung eine Brücke zwischen der virtuellen und der realen Welt schafft. Seither bilden polymorphe Dopplungen das Fundament auf dem ich mich künstlerisch austobe.
Die physische und inhaltliche Vielschichtigkeit meiner Werke eröffnet ein Dialog zum Betrachter, in dem er sich seiner Position in unserer unruhigen visuellen Welt bewusst wird. In diesem Dialog entsteht der postmediale Untergrund auf dem sich das heutige menschliche Subjekt abzeichnet, verschiedene Kunstepochen interagieren und moderne visuelle Wahrnehmung hinterfragt wird.

Ein männlicher Halbakt, ein zähnefletschender Pavian als eine Metapher für vermeintliche animalische Freiheit und ein in Stein gemeißelter Kopf eines Satyr sind von abstrakten Pinselstrichen umgeben. Die kaum wahrnehmbare visuelle Verschiebung der Charaktere erzeugt eine paradoxe Wirkung der Bewegung und des gleichzeitigen Stillstands.
Köpfe, die Grimassen schneiden, rahmen die ruhige, zentrale und autonome Gestalt ein.
Die Transparenz der Figuren wirkt wie eine organische semipermeable Membran.
Die Gesamtkomposition vergegenstaendlicht den Prozess einer Identitätsbildung, der durch das Zusammenspiel der äußeren Einflüsse und der inneren Zustände bestimmt wird.

Lots of neon, fighting dogs and a burning car. An image that appears "digital" due to the multilayered working technique and slight shifting. The content is contradictory; animals would not fight in front of a burning vehicle.
As the title suggests, the depicted topic does not correspond to the facts. As we know, fake news is mostly distorted for political gain and is popular on social media.
The multilayered structure of the work and the "perfect" surface refer to the digital filters that distort reality.
The neon colors and indigo-blue intensifying their luminosity are reflecting the conflict -filled presence.

Die Inspirationsquelle für das cineastisch wirkende Bild ist "Herkules bei Omphale" von Rubens. Das sinnliche Original von 1602 fasziniert mich, da dafür kunstgeschichtliche Vorlagen, wie Laokoon oder Herkules von Farnese benutzt wurden. Schon im sinnlichen Original verändert sich aus heutiger Sicht alles, Geschlechterrollen, Gewohnheiten und Erscheinungsbilder fließen ineinander und reformieren sich.
Das Porzellan-dominierte Stillleben und die Hauptfiguren sind in einem Zugwagen platziert. Zerbrechliche, traditionsbehaftete Gegenstände tragen die Komposition. Der symbolträchtige Kopf Marias wiederholt sich im Muster der Unterwäsche der "modernisierten" Omphale.
Der Bildinhalt ergibt einen absurden geschichtlichen Mix, der der beschleunigten Gegenwart hinterher hinkt.

"My avatar and me, an identity crisis"

The inspirational source is Munch's "Me in hell" which he painted 1903 in Berlin. Drama and expressionism collide here with an indifferent selfie.
This is how I like to show the grotesque distortion of our identity caused by the virtual presence.
The discrepancy between the virtual body and the physical form in reality leads to a shift in self- perception. The avatar is modified by beauty filters, it is more attractive, uniformed and knows no emotional depths.
Minimizing the gap between the avatar and the flesh turns into a permanent "self improvement".
Inevitably, it ends in frustration as we hit our physical limits.

The cabbage is a quote from Kupka's harmoniously composed still life(1906), where he shows his artistic skills.
The head of St. Gerome(1661) by Bernini shows the artist's virtuosity and transports us to the emotionally overcharged Baroque, where art was often a tool of ecclesiastical propaganda.
All pieces have a high symbolic value, strong stylization, masterful execution and harmonious composition.
Put together they form a piece full of dreamed reality colored by nostalgic longings.
The complexity of this painting builds a direct connection to our restless visual surroundings in which political ideologies, historical references and cultures interact and we tend to hide ourselves in a capsule of convictions formed by fears and naivety.
